Celtic superstar tipped to join one of Europe’s top clubs

Celtic have a done a tremendous job at keeping the core of their squad together this summer. They have brought in Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda permanently after their great loan spells, while also signing Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist and Moritz Jenz, on loan from Ligue 1 side Lorient. On the other hand, unlike most summer transfer windows, they have managed to hold onto their top stars this time around.

Their start to the season has not been brilliant but they have gotten the job done in both their league games till now, against Aberdeen and Ross County, respectively.

One man who has shined in particular is Jota. The Portuguese winger scored a stunning goal from outside the box vs Aberdeen, and then assisted all three of Celtic’s goals vs Ross County. He seems to have taken his game up a level since joining the club on a permanent basis.

If he continues to perform like this, sooner or later, clubs will come sniffing. As reported Glasgow Live, while speaking on Sky Sports, Scott Allan said about Jota:

"“In terms of numbers, he’s the player to get the ball to because when he’s on it you know something is going to happen.“And he’s got that thing the Celtic fans love – that bit of arrogance on the ball. Another three assists, his numbers are incredible.“He’s a player who is only going to get better and if he keeps developing he’ll end up at one of the big teams in Europe.”"

While coming through the youth ranks at Benfica, Jota was always believed to be one of the top prospects in Europe. In fact, he had been linked with a move to Real Madrid early on in his career.

Ultimately, he never managed to find his feet in the Benfica senior team and struggled on loan at Real Valladolid as well.

Thus, it was seen as a risk when Celtic signed him on loan from Benfica last summer. It has certainly paid off though, as Jota has been absolutely superb in the Hoops and at 23 years of age, he will only get better moving forward. That is an exciting thought to say the least and it is very possible that he could end up at a big club down South, or in Spain, Germany, Italy or France one day.
