One of the biggest problems that Celtic have faced this season is giving enough playing time to both Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis. The Japanese star was exceptional last season and perhaps fits Ange Postecoglou’s free flowing style of football a bit better. But at the same time, one cannot deny the fact that the Greek striker played a massive role in getting the Hoops over the line in the Premiership title race in the previous campaign.

Thus, both of them deserve to be getting a lot of playing time. Yet, one also has to remember the fact that Kyogo and Giakoumakis faced their injury problems last season, and had spend significant time out on the sidelines.

So, the Hoops could do with another option up front, especially if Albian Ajeti does leave the club this summer. Jordan Larsson could have been the blockbuster option and was available as a free agent but rumours suggest that Celtic did not make a move. Now though, they are being linked with a very surprising name.

As reported by Homme du Match (via HITC), Marseille striker Bamba Dieng could join Celtic. The Senegal international is not in manager Igor Tudor’s plans. He has also been linked with Leeds United, Newcastle United and West Ham United.

Celtic linked with move for Marseille striker

It is safe to say that it would be a big surprise if Dieng actually ended up joining Celtic this summer.

First of all, he is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around £10 million and it is unlikely that Celtic would shell out anywhere near that to fill a position where there is no real urgent need at the moment.

And on the other hand, it is hard to see them being able to offer the kind of wages that the Premier League clubs could offer the youngster.
