Celtic have made a decent start to the Premiership season, winning both of their games till now, but they are not in full flow yet. In fact, both games were tighter than they would have hoped. As a result, while the squad is quite strong already, they could do with some more additions and Ange Postecoglou has not ruled out the prospect of making more signings this summer either.

Two key players who are missing this season are Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton, both of whom decided to depart at the end of the previous campaign, after spending nearly a decade at Parkhead.

It is questionable whether Celtic have replaced either of them till now. The only player they have signed in the middle of the park this summer is Aaron Mooy, and he is neither the attacking midfielder that Rogic is or a defensive midfielder like Bitton.

Thus, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making another addition in midfield. Some very interesting whispers had been doing the rounds of social media recently though, regarding potential interest in signing Chelsea’s Ross Barkley. And as reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Simon Phillips said:

"“With Ross Barkley, he’s got a lot of other clubs interested in him at the moment so it’s not just Everton. He’s got Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa and Celtic. So got plenty of options to go to.”"

Thus, it looks like Celtic are one of the clubs interested in making a move for Barkley, who does not seem to be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans and is expected to leave Chelsea this summer.

Barkley was one of the most highly-rated English player during his early career and it is safe to say that his career has not progressed as many people would have expected. He is still just 28 years of age though and should have plenty left in the tank.

It is clear that there is still plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in Barkley but none of those clubs can offer him Champions League football, like Celtic can.
