Ange Postecoglou declares Celtic star a special one
Celtic have not been at their best at the start of this season but still, they have been good enough to get results. They got a 2-0 win over Aberdeen in the opening game of their league season at Parkhead. And then they travelled to Ross County and beat them 3-1 in what was a very tight game and had remained tied till the 84th minute, before Moritz Jenz put the Hoops ahead on his debut for the club.
One player that deserves special mention for his performance on the day though is Jota. He assisted all three of Celtic’s goals and is looking like a class apart right now.
Celtic signed him on a permanent basis from Benfica, after his brilliant loan spell last time around, and that decision is starting to look like a masterstroke on their part already. The Portuguese star had scored a wondergoal in their game against Aberdeen as well.
Postecoglou certainly recognises how well Jota is doing right now and did not shy away from heaping praise on his star man for his display vs Ross County. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said:
"“Jota is earning the assists in the right way, he’s working hard.“He has joined this club permanently and he wants to be the best he can be and show people there’s another level to him.“On a difficult day on a tight pitch with the wind, with those kind of players it takes the real special ones to be able to still find and create space for themselves.“He was put under a lot of pressure any time he had the ball at his feet.“He’d take people on and they committed quite a few foul on him and others because of that.“It was another strong performance from him.”"
Postecoglou declares Celtic star as one of the special ones
Jota is looking like an absolute superstar at this point of time. He appears to have taken his game to the next level since joining Celtic on a permanent basis and it will be very interesting to see how this season looks for him.
Interestingly, his goal and all three of his assists have come when Daizen Maeda has not been on the pitch and as a result, that is a combination that Postecoglou needs to keep an eye on, as it is not working at this point of time.
If Jota continues to perform like this throughout the course of the season, it is hard to see the Premiership title head anywhere other than back to Celtic Park.
