Liel Abada’s form for Celtic went a bit under the radar last season, due to the performances of the likes Jota, Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis and others. But the Israeli international played a key part in the Hoops’ double win as well. In fact, early on in the campaign, when others were struggling to find their feet, he was arguably the club’s best player.

His effectiveness and goal contributions for the club were absolutely superb, especially considering that he arrived at Celtic as a teenager. That is not easy to do and it goes without saying that he has plenty of room for improvement and time to develop.

There have been some worries recently though, following Nir Bitton’s departure at the end of last season. Abada has never made a secret of the fact that he was immensely helped by his fellow countryman upon his arrival at Celtic. Thus, many fans feel that it might end up having a negative impact on the winger’s form moving forward.

Ange Postecoglou does not believe that that will be any major concern for Abada though. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said while speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel:

"“I get that to a certain extent, but I think Liel is just being honest about his feelings. I do not think Liel needs any protection from anyone.“He does not need a big brother. He can take care of himself. He was wearing his big boy pants last year when he was thrown in and banging in goals and providing assists.“He was obviously very close with Niro, who was fantastic with him, particularly in terms of helping him settle in. Liel knows what he wants to achieve in this game.“We try and create a club environment of support for all our players, whether they are foreign or from just down the road. We have a supportive network for all of them and can provide any help they need.”"

As a professional footballer, it is part of life to see teammates move on at the end of every season, and while there is no doubt that Bitton’s presence at Celtic had a very positive influence on Abada, there is no doubt about the fact that his departure should not have any huge impact upon the winger’s performances on the pitch.

He showed that against Ross County by coming on at half-time and scoring the third goal to seal all three points for Celtic.

At this point of time, Abada does not seem to be a regular starter for Celtic though and he will need to play his way into the team. The display against Ross County will have helped in that regard.
