Odsonne Edouard was the star man for Celtic for the majority of his stay at the club and had done a good job of filling the void left behind Moussa Dembele. His future appeared to be up in the air in his last couple of years with the Hoops though, before finally sealing an exit last summer to join Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Celtic have done a wonderful job of replacing Edouard with Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis. Many fans would argue that the team has gotten better, but then, we do not know what the Frenchman would have played like in full flow in Ange Postecoglou’s system.

While Celtic have not faced a lot of problems up top since the departure of Edouard, the Frenchman himself has not had the greatest time at Crystal Palace though.

He has himself admitted that it was not easy for him to move to England from Scotland. As reported by South London Press & Mercury, he said:

"“It was a good season, [but] it’s not easy to come from Scotland and play in England because it’s the best league in the world.“But the team helped me to adapt very well, and I’m looking forward to this season.“Scotland is very different – everything is different. The technique, the intensity [of the league], the [style] of the teams that we play against – it was very different.”"

Edouard could not have asked for a better start at Crystal Palace. He came off the bench to score a brace against Tottenham Hotspur on his debut, as it looked like the club have pulled off a masterstroke in signing the Frenchman from Celtic. Unfortunately for him, things have not gone smoothly since then.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for Crystal Palace last season.

It is safe to say that those are not great numbers for a player who came in with such high expectations and fans have been mostly disappointed.

Edouard spent the latter half of the season struggling to get into the Crystal Palace team on a consistent basis. Now, it remains to be seen if he can improve this season, now that he has already experienced Premier League football.
