Celtic have been busy this summer, despite coming off of a Premiership and League Cup double winning campaign. The club have been successful in keeping the core of their squad together, except for the departures of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton at the end of last season. On top of that, they have also managed to add new faces to the mix, as things are looking up for the Hoops.

On the other hand, there have been quite a few players who have departed the club this summer, although none of them have been particularly high profile exits.

One such player is Jonathan Afolabi. The Irish striker never managed to make a single appearance for Celtic at the senior level and he would be hoping that his next move is much more successful.

As reported by their official website, Bohemians have confirmed the signing of Afolabi.

It would be safe to say that it never quite worked out for Afolabi at Celtic. He had arrived at the club with a lot of expectations surrounding him, having had impressed a lot of people during his time coming through the youth ranks at Southampton.

Ultimately though, he would never make an appearance for Celtic, instead spending several spells out on loan at clubs like Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee, Ayr United and Airdrieonians.

He was not particularly impressive in any of those loan spells though and now, at 22 years of age, it was pretty clear that he did not have a long-term future at Celtic. Let’s see how he does in new surroundings, after joining Bohemians. One can only wish him the best of luck moving forward.

On the other hand, Celtic have some exciting young talent coming through their ranks at the moment and it will be interesting to see whether any of them are able to make the mark at Parkhead.
