Celtic’s biggest problem last season was the series of injuries that they had to deal with throughout the campaign, but especially in the first half. As a result, it was not a rare sight for a player to be played out of position, and it is truly remarkable that the Hoops managed to win a double, despite having to struggle against so many odds.

Celtic fans would have been hoping that the picture would be different this season. The club have added to their squad significantly and right now, they have quite a bit of depth in most areas of the pitch.

Injury problems still continue to follow them though despite this. Carl Starfelt has been out of action for months and missed the entire pre-season. Yosuke Ideguchi has also picked up an injury recently and is expected to be out for a few weeks at least. And now, another name has been added to that list.

While speaking in a media conference on Celtic’s official YouTube channel, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Reo Hatate is set to miss the upcoming game against Ross County, as a result of knocks that he picked up last week.

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal. Hatate has been one of Celtic’s standout players in recent weeks and as a result, him being out of action will be a major blow for the Hoops for sure.

In his absence, one would expect Postecoglou to put David Turnbull on the pitch. While not a like-for-like replacement, the Scottish midfielder also had a very promising pre-season.

Aaron Mooy can be another option to consider as well, but he does not look fully fit at this point of time and has not been particularly impressive in the performances that he has put in for Celtic till now.
