It was a shock when Tom Rogic decided to bring the curtain down on his Celtic career at the end of last season. The Australian international had been at Parkhead for almost a decade, through a lot of ups and downs in his career. Under the management of Ange Postecoglou, he had managed to re-establish himself in the starting XI though and played a major part in the Hoops’ successes in the 2021/22 campaign.

Since departing Celtic, Rogic is yet to find himself his next club though. There have been a lot rumours and links over the past few months but as things stand, he is still a free agent.

Recently, rumours broke out that Rogic was closing in on a stunning reunion with former Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, at Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia.

But now, those rumours seem to be off the mark as well. A report from Omonoianews reads:

"The information that wanted OMONIA to be close to the acquisition of Australian midfielder Tom Rogic was wrong after all. There was no interest from our team for the Australian and as we are informed the programming team has turned its attention to other footballers."

Rogic’s future after leaving Celtic has taken another surprise twist

On paper, it would have made sense for Rogic to move to Omonia Nicosia, where he could reunite with Lennon and continue to play at a good level in Europe.

He had been linked with a move to Indonesia, Australia and the Middle East in the recent past, but none of them have transpired till now.

One would have expected Rogic to make a move down South, to England, when he did leave Celtic. But it does not feel like such a move is on the cards, otherwise, it most probably would have taken place already.

It will be very interesting to see where Rogic does ultimately end up as at the moment, it does not feel like he has a clear destination in sight. We can only wish him the best of luck for his future though, no matter where it lies.
