Celtic reportedly monitoring in-form Championship striker
One would think that a new striker is not at the top of Celtic’s wish list for the summer. At the end of the day, they have two terrific options in the form of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis. In fact, one of the big challenges that Ange Postecoglou faces this season is making sure that he is able to give enough playing time to both of them. On the other hand, Daizen Maeda is capable of playing up front as well.
Yet, one also has to admit that both Kyogo and Giakoumakis had a lot of injury problems last season. And Maeda has not looked at his best while playing as a striker.
The club also have Albian Ajeti in their ranks, but he has not managed to make his mark at Celtic even since arriving from West Ham United a couple of summers back. Many even expected him to depart Parkhead, but there do not seem to be many rumours surrounding that at the moment.
As reported by Sunderland Echo, Celtic are continuing to monitor the progress of Antoine Semenyo ahead of a potential move for the Bristol City striker. His current injury may put off the Hoops from making a move for him in this window though.
Celtic are reportedly still monitoring the Bristol City striker
Semenyo enjoyed a very promising 2021/22 campaign with Bristol City, which seemed to have caught the attention of a number of clubs including Celtic.
While he was not particularly prolific in front of goal, he did show a lot of attributes which could be a very good fit in Postecoglou’s system of football.
Even then, it would be a major surprise if Celtic make a move anytime soon. Semenyo’s current deal runs out next summer although there is an option to extend it by a year, which Bristol City are expected to take up.
