Celtic fans are very excited about the club making their return to the group stage of European football’s elite competition after an absence of several years. It is where a club of this size belongs and those nights under the lights promise to be special occasions. One can only hope that Ange Postecoglou’s side are able to make their mark.

Celtic are guaranteed a place in the group stage this time around as a result of winning the Premiership title last season. That was a spot that many Rangers fans had taken for granted at the start of the 2021/22 campaign but now, they find themselves in the qualification phase.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side lost the first leg of their third qualifying round tie against Royale Union SG by a 2-0 margin and it could have easily been more in favour of the Belgian side. Thus, the Rangers will have a mountain to climb when they welcome them to Ibrox for the second leg.

It would be wrong to count them out just yet though, as we have seen last season in the Europa League, they are more than capable of turning a tie around at Ibrox. Fortunately for Celtic, they do not have to worry about any of that and are instead waiting to learn who they will be facing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
