Celtic did not have great luck last season when it came to injuries and it was remarkable that they ended up winning a Premiership and League Cup double. Not only were the club not expected to compete for titles coming off of a terrible 2020/21 campaign but at the same time, Ange Postecoglou was forced to play players out of position on several occasions due to a thin squad blighted by injuries.

This time around, they would have been hoping that the picture was different, with the squad depth much deeper than it was on the previous occasion.

But Celtic have not made the strongest start to the season in that regard. Carl Starfelt missed the entire pre-season due to an injury and Yosuke Ideguchi picked up an injury in training recently as well.

It looks like Ideguchi will be missing a few weeks of action due to it, as he was required to get stitches. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou said during a media conference on Celtic’s YouTube channel:

"“Yosuke picked up an unfortunate injury at training – it was a gash on his leg that required quite a few stitches. He’ll probably miss a few weeks.”"

Ideguchi’s bad run of luck appears to have continued. He arrived in January from Gamba Osaka and it was an interesting move on the part of Celtic to say the least.

Ideguchi did not have a great campaign in Japan like Reo Hatate or Daizen Maeda. He had showcased incredible potential early on in his career though and perhaps Postecoglou believed that he could get the best out of him.

Till now, that has not happened. A large part of that was because of the injury he picked up soon after arriving at Celtic, which saw him spend a significant amount of time out on the sidelines. Fans would have been hoping that we would get to see the best of Ideguchi this season but things have started on a poor note, as he has been injured once again, even before a ball has been kicked.
