Even Kris Boyd has made confession about Celtic star

One of the biggest reasons, arguably the biggest reason, Celtic managed to enjoyed so much success in Ange Postecoglou’s first season at the club, against all hopes and expectations, is the recruitment that the club have made since the manager’s arrival. Not too long ago, it had been viewed as a weakness for them but now, it appears to be a massive strength.

So much so that they turned the loan deals of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda permanent this summer, after they had played key roles in their double win last season.

Jota was a particular standout for the club and Celtic are believed to have shelled out a transfer fee around £6.4 million, which was the option to buy included in his loan deal from Benfica, to sign him on a permanent basis.

Even Kris Boyd seems to have been impressed by what he saw from Jota in Celtic colours last season. As reported by Sky Sports, the former Rangers star said about the Portuguese winger:

"“You just have to look at the fact Jota came in on loan last season and did really well. Celtic scored 92 goals en route to winning the title and his contribution, the way he plays the game, was crucial.“Jota has got that little bit of x-factor in terms of what he can bring in the final third. Celtic have spent a lot of money on him but, after 13 goals and 14 assists across all competitions last season, it suggests he has got another big season ahead.”"

Jota was an absolute standout for Celtic last season and when on top form, he looked like the best player in all of Scotland.

Postecoglou deserves immense credit for getting the best out of Jota as well. One has to remember that he had not managed to find his feet at Benfica, a club where he had been a standout while coming through the youth ranks, or while on loan at Real Valladolid in La Liga.

During his youth career, Jota was one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the world. He had even been linked with a move to Real Madrid at one point of time. But it is only after joining Celtic that he has started to fulfil his potential and it remains to be seen how he does this season. He looked extremely sharp in pre-season and looks ready to pick up right where he left off.
