Celtic have added a number of players to their squad this summer. They have turned the loan deals of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda permanent while adding four new faces in the form of Aaron Mooy, Benjamin Siegrist, Alexandro Bernabei and Moritz Jenz, on loan from Lorient with an option to buy included in the deal.

On the other hand, several players have headed in the opposite direction as well, either on loan or on a permanent basis. There have been no real headline grabbing exits though as is often the case every summer when it comes to Celtic. Those have come at Ibrox this time around.

Celtic have mostly been able to keep the core of their double-winning squad together, minus the departures of Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic at the end of last season. Other than them, the most noteworthy names that have left Parkhead in recent months are Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro on loan, and Boli Bolingoli permanently.

Another Celtic player has left the club on loan now, in the form of Ben Wylie, who had been one of the best players for the B Team last season. He has joined League One side Airdrieonians.

While speaking on Airdrieonians’ official website, Wylie said after the loan move:

"“The manager brought it across to me that they play nice football. Brody Paterson, Jon Afolabi and Kerr McInroy were all here last season and they’ve all went on to do good things off coming to Airdrie.“I have a hunger to win, and I want to win every week!”"

While Wylie had managed to stand out for Celtic’s B Team last season, there was very little chance that he would get enough opportunities to prove himself for the senior team this season.

Thus, at 20 years of age, a move away from the club looks like the best step for him at this stage of his career. Hopefully, he will be able to prove himself at the League One level and come back to Parkhead with a shot of playing some first-team football in Ange Postecoglou’s side.
