Aberdeen manager makes brutally honest Celtic admission

Celtic will have a difficult start to their Premiership campaign when they welcome Aberdeen to Parkhead on Flag Day, as they begin their defence of the league title. The Hoops have had a decent pre-season and did not lose a single game. Thus, Ange Postecoglou’s side must be confident of themselves going into the new season.

At the same time though, Aberdeen have started the season in very good form and as a result, have enough reason to believe that they are capable of causing an upset against Celtic in their own backyard.

One thing is safe to say, the Hoops must be very careful and at the top of their game, when they come up against the Dons at Parkhead in the opening game of their league campaign.

On the other hand though, Aberdeen manager, Jim Goodwin, seems to be very aware of what Celtic will be bringing to the table as well. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told Sky Sports:

"“It doesn’t get much more difficult, that’s fair to say, but look you’ve got to play everybody at some point.“We’re going into this game in really good form ourselves, we’ve had a very successful League Cup group stage, won all four games quite convincingly, kept four clean sheets, so we’ve got a little bit of momentum, a little bit of confidence in the group and we’ll just approach this game the same way we have the previous four.”"

Celtic could have a few key players missing when they end up taking on Aberdeen this weekend. Carl Starfelt has been out of action for the entirety of pre-season, since he had picked up an injury while representing the Swedish national team. As a result, it might take him some time to get up to match speed, even when he is back available for selection.

On the other hand, both Yosuke Ideguchi and Moritz Jenz appear to be injury doubts for the game against Aberdeen as well.

This is not how Celtic would have been hoping to kick off their campaign and one can only hope that their defence is strong enough to hold up against the Dons. It did look like an area of worry for them in pre-season, but they did manage to keep a clean sheet against Norwich City in the final game.
