Celtic should target fantastic Chelsea player on loan
Celtic’s biggest need at this point of time might be a physical defensive midfielder. Nir Bitton left the club at the end of last season and Aaron Mooy just does not look like a player who can be brought on to see out games, like the Israeli international used to do last season for the Hoops. Fortunately, the door has not been closed on the club making further signings this summer yet.
As a result, it might be a good idea for them to keep an eye on the defensive midfield position and one player who might be a very good option is Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu.
While Ampadu has been a regular player in the Wales national team for a long time, he has never quite gotten the chance to breakout at Chelsea. He spent the previous season on loan at Venezia in the Serie A and the one before that with Sheffield United, when they were still in the Premier League.
Ampadu can player as a centre-back as well as a defensive midfielder, and it might be in the middle of the park where he would be a great fit for Celtic. He has a sensational passing ability and calmness on the ball, which shines through in his game. But at the same time, he has the defensive side to his game and thus, could be a very good fit in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

A loan move might make sense for all parties involved. For Chelsea, it would open up space in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, while for Ampadu, it makes a lot of sense to go to a club where he will be able to play Champions League football and be involved in a title race.
On the other hand, Celtic might be getting exactly the profile of player that they need, both good on and off the ball.
It remains to be seen if Celtic do indeed decide to give a move for Ampadu a thought. In the past, Chelsea have loaned Charly Musonda to the Hoops.
