Celtic’s pre-season campaign was up and down to say the least. At times, Ange Postecoglou’s side looked absolutely unplayable and raised hopes of what is to come this season, with the Scottish crown to defend and Champions League group stage football to play as well. On the other hand though, they looked very shaky defensively at times and struggled to hold on to leads, and put in good performances over the 90 minutes.

Of course, it is just pre-season and the results matter very little, but even then, the 2-0 victory over Norwich City was cause for encouragement.

The Canaries have been a yo-yo team for quite some time now, bouncing around the Premier League and the Championship. They got relegated from the top flight last season but it would not surprise anyone if they manage to go up again this time around.

Thus, they are a very decent team and Celtic managed to outplay them. Norwich City star, Kenny McLean, seemed to have been impressed with what he saw from the Hoops. As reported by the Eastern Daily Press, the Scottish midfielder said:

"“It’s a question I get asked a lot about the Old Firm.“I think they are at a Premier League level, to be honest.“You can see the way they play, the way they set up, their style with and against the ball, they are very good. I think they’re a very good team, the same as Rangers.”"

It is a debate that has roared on for ages, could Celtic and the Rangers play at the Premier League level?

Well, considering the transfer budget that they have to work on, they are certainly doing a pretty good job.

Celtic’s season begins in a week when they take on Aberdeen on Flag Day in the Premiership opener for them. While it might not have been the smoothest of pre-season campaigns for the Hoops, they must take the positives from it and be confident of their own ability to clinch the title once again. They are in a much better position now than they were at this time last year.
