This Premiership title race promises to be a tight one between Celtic and the Rangers. Both sides have had very decent summer transfer windows and it will be very interesting to see how their new signings take to Scottish football. Ange Postecoglou’s side won the double last season while the Ibrox club won the Scottish Cup and reached the final of the Europa League against all expectations.

The Hoops have managed to keep the core of their squad together, except for the departures of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton, while also adding depth to their options. Thus, things are looking up for them.

On the other hand, the Rangers have lost a couple of key players in the form of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, but their transfer business has picked up pace since then and they are looking pretty strong as well.

Thus, it is pretty difficult to distinguish a clear favourite between the two teams at this point of time. But Kenny Dalglish seems to be favouring Celtic over the Rangers. He wrote in his column in The Sunday Post:

"They have been active in the transfer market, and in the past few days added Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz.Added to the squad which won back the Premiership last season, for me it makes Celtic the team to beat this season.Sure, the transfer window is open for another six weeks or so, and Rangers might yet do more business. But the Parkhead club looks very strong.Right now, they are favourites for the Premiership. Rangers will really need to produce something very special to stop them."

Dalglish declares Celtic as the favourites for the league this season

That is a big claim on the part of Dalglish for sure but also not hard to see why he has made it. Celtic have been superb under the management of Postecoglou, especially in domestic competitions.

They will have the Champions League to worry about this time as well though as they will be making their return to the group stage of the competition after a long, long time. It remains to be seen how things turn out for the Hoops but exciting times seem to be ahead of them at the moment.

On the other hand, the Rangers will be looking to put up more of a fight this time around than they did in the second half of the previous league season.
