Celtic enjoyed their game out at Parkhead against Norwich City. It was their toughest game of the pre-season campaign till now, as the Championship side had just been relegated from the Premier League last season. The Canaries have spent the past several years yo-yoing between the top two divisions of English football and will have hopes of going up this time around as well.

Ultimately, it did not turn out to be too difficult of a game for Celtic. Goals from Daizen Maeda and David Turnbull were enough to seal a 2-0 win for Ange Postecoglou’s side, which surely would have given them some confidence as they have not had the easiest time winning games and keeping clean sheets in this pre-season till now.

With the Premiership campaign just a week away, with the champions facing Aberdeen on Flag Day, this result will do Celtic a world of good.

There was an unexpected face in the crowd as well. As reported by The Celtic Star, Shaun Maloney was in attendance this afternoon.

Maloney both played for Celtic and then coached for them at the youth levels. He would then go on to be an assistant manager for the Belgian national team.

He earned a lot of plaudits for his role there and would even be linked with the Hoops’ first-team job last summer before it ended up going to Postecoglou.

Maloney would be handed the Hibernian job though and there were a lot of expectations surrounding him. But unfortunately for the former Celtic star and coach, it just did not work out for him at Easter Road. They struggled to get results and it was not long before he was shown the exit door by the Premiership club. He finds himself without a club at this point of time.
