Celtic have made quite a few additions to their squad this summer despite having won an unexpected double last season. This is a great sign as it is clear that the club are ready to back Ange Postecoglou, as they return to the Champions League after several years while also looking to defend their Scottish crown against the Rangers next season.

While the club have already signed a number of players, and many had believed that their summer transfer business in terms of incomings had come to an end with the arrivals of Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz, that does not look like the case.

Celtic are still expected to strengthen the squad further but it is still unclear which positions that they would be targeting next. Amidst all this, they have been linked with a surprise move though.

As reported by Milan News (via Express), AC Milan will face competition for the signature of Tottenham Hotspur’s Japhet Tanganga. The three clubs named are Celtic, Bournemouth and AS Monaco.

Celtic linked with surprise move for defender even after signing Jenz

This is a surprising rumour to say the least. Yes, Celtic have been linked with Tanganga in the past as well without the move ever materialising, going as far back as to when Neil Lennon was the manager of the club.

But, it is hard to see them make a move for the centre-back after already bringing in Jenz on a season-long loan move to Lorient recently.

Of course, Christopher Jullien is expected to leave the club this summer and let’s see what happens in that regard but even then, the Hoops will have four options there.

Never say never in football but even then, it is very difficult to imagine Celtic going after another defender this summer, when there are other positions in immediate need of reinforcements. One must point out though that Tanganga can play at right-back too, but the Hoops are well covered there as well.
