Celtic have already made quite a few additions this summer, including big moves for Cameron Carter-Vickers, from Tottenham Hotspur, Jota, from Benfica, and Alexandro Bernabei, from Lanus. Other than that, Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy, Moritz Jenz and Benjamin Siegrist have arrived at Parkhead as well. There are a few reinforcements which could still help the squad though.
While there has been a lot of talk about potentially signing a new defensive midfielder or striker, one position that is being overlooked is on the wings.
Neither James Forrest nor Mikey Johnston have managed to impress in recent seasons, struggling with both form and fitness. On the other hand, Karamoko Dembele completed a Parkhead exit this summer. The only out-and-out wingers who seem to be in form at the moment are Jota and Liel Abada.
Thus, Celtic could do with another option there. While making a permanent signing could be difficult, a loan move could certainly work as well. And one player that they should target in this respect is Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.
Celtic should target Manchester United winger on loan this summer
Garnacho has been making a lot of waves recently while coming through the youth ranks. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 6 FA Youth Cup games last season.
He has also made a couple of senior appearances for Manchester United already while also being a part of the Argentine national team squad.
Thus, someone like him could be a solid addition for Celtic as a back up option on the wings. It is pretty clear that his potential is tremendous and it would be interesting to see what a manager like Ange Postecoglou could get out of him at this stage of his career. Could he be the new Patrick Roberts?
As we saw last season with Amad, Manchester United are not opposed to letting some of their most highly-rated youngsters move to Scotland on loan.
