The efficiency that Celtic have shown over the past couple of transfer windows is incredible. This is a club that had a reputation of letting things drag on for much longer than required, which at times had led them to missing out on players as well. There has been no such thing in recent times and the Hoops have already completed seven signings and we are in the third week of July.

The club announced the signings of Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz today. The Australian midfielder has arrived as a free agent after his spell at Shanghai Port came to an end while the German defender has arrived on a season-long loan, with an option to buy, after a poor debut campaign at Lorient.

Ange Postecoglou will know Mooy well from his time as the manager of the Australian national team. On the other hand, Jenz is someone who has been linked with the Hoops since before the 56-year-old’s appointment last summer.

As reported by Celtic’s official website, Postecoglou said about the double signing of Mooy and Jenz:

"“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring in both Aaron and Moritz to the club, and I’m sure they’ll be great additions to our squad.“I obviously know Aaron from my time coaching the Australian national team, and he brings with him a wealth of experience at both club and international level.“Moritz is a player we’ve been aware for a while now, and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to sign him.“They’ve already had the chance to meet the rest of the squad, and I’m sure they’ll settle in very quickly into what is a very welcoming group of players, and I know that our supporters will be looking forward to seeing them both in a Celtic jersey.”"

The pace at which Celtic have completed these deals is remarkable. It was just a couple of days back that the rumours about Mooy broke out while the ones about Jenz broke out yesterday.

While neither is a glamorous signing for Celtic and probably not regular starters either, both Mooy and Jenz could prove to be important contributors to this team.

On one hand, Mooy has plenty of experience under his belt and will already know what it takes to succeed in Postecoglou’s system of football. On the other hand, Jenz pretty much looks cover to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt in defence, with Christopher Jullien expected to leave and Stephen Welsh not quite ready yet.
