Celtic fans will be delighted going into the upcoming season. Not only are they the defending Premiership and League Cup champions, but also have Champions League group stage football to look forward to as well after several years. The Hoops have already strengthened their squad this summer and there is the promise of more additions to come.

This is in stark contrast to the previous summer, when Celtic fans must have been worried about what was to come. They had finished the previous season without a trophy and 25 points behind Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side.

While Gerrard could only win one trophy during his time in Glasgow, the Rangers fans still view him as a success because he managed to stop the 10. He did leave the Ibrox club in the middle of the 2021/22 season though.

While it is a rare event for former Rangers managers to have great things to say about Celtic managers, Gerrard seems to have been impressed with what he has seen from Ange Postecoglou so far. As reported by Fox Sports, he told News Corp Australia:

"“Ange did fantastically well. He came in with his own style. It took a little bit of time for him to implement that but once the players got used to that, they went on to win the league title and the League Cup as well, so it was a very successful season for him.“He’s someone who I’ve got a lot of respect for and a lot of admiration for, and he’s done ever so well, so credit to him.“He’s obviously got big experience. He’s had a lot of success throughout his career, and he comes across as a very humble guy.“Obviously I’m Rangers through and through. I want Rangers to do well. I’m sure he appreciates that but from coach to coach, he’s someone that I’ve got a lot of respect for.”"

Gerrard makes unexpected admission about Celtic manager

It is safe to say that Postecoglou has done an incredible job ever since arriving as the manager of Celtic last summer. What is most impressive about him guiding the club to a Premiership and League Cup double in his very first season in charge is the fact that nobody even expected the Hoops to compete for trophies last time around, forget about winning them.

A lot of eyebrows were raised when Postecoglou was appointed as the manager of the club. Despite his considerable success in Japan and Australia, he had never managed a top flight club  in Europe before this and many believed that he was not ready for the Celtic job.

It is safe to say that he has proven a lot of critics wrong. He also has a trophy more than Gerrard in Scotland already, so that’s a positive as well.
