Celtic confirmed to be closing in on double signing
Celtic must be quite content with the transfer business that they have done till now in the ongoing summer window. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda have been signed permanently, after brilliant campaigns on loan last time around. On the other hand, Benjamin Siegrist has arrived on a free transfer and Alexandro Bernabei in a deal believed to be around £3.75 million from Argentine club Lanus.
Thus, this squad is looking quite strong, heading into a season where they have the Scottish crown to defend and guaranteed Champions League football as well. But at the same time, there are a few areas where they could do with further reinforcements.
Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic departed the club at the end of last season. On the other hand, the Hoops could potentially do with more options on the wing, up front and in central defence as well, depending on the way you look at it.
Ange Postecoglou has given a very positive update on the transfer situation as it looks like Celtic are close to making a double signing. As reported by the Daily Record, the manager said:
"“We’re definitely going to add a couple of players. We’re working hard on that and would expect to do it in the next seven days. We’ve had to be patient, that was more important than rushing.“I’m confident we’re close to the end point in bringing in a couple that will help.”"
Celtic are closing in on double signing
It is safe to say that this is great news but it is still unclear which positions Celtic will end up making these additions in.
It does feel like defensive midfield will be one of the positions. With Bitton leaving the club, as well as Ismaila Soro on loan, that is an area where the Hoops do seem pretty light in at this point of time.
Now, it remains to be seen who ends up being that player. The club were linked with Vinicius Souza before he ended up joining Espanyol on loan. Recently, they have been linked with Argentine youth international, Fausto Vera. Of course, Celtic have been known to spring a surprise from time to time as well.
