Celtic are confirmed to have held talks with midfielder

Celtic have strengthened their senior team significantly over the course of the summer even though a few more additions are still expected to be made. One must also remember that this is a team that won the Premiership and League Cup double last time around. Thus, these are exciting times as we head towards a campaign with guaranteed Champions League group stage football.

While the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda, Jota, Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei have already been signed in the ongoing window, the club could also be looking to bring in players who could be stars not immediately but in the future.

One such player could be Dylan Reid of St Mirren. It appears that Celtic have already had a transfer bid accepted for the 17-year-old. He is a player in demand though and has also been linked with the Rangers as well as Benfica.

On the other hand, St Mirren appear to be keen to hold on to the highly rated defensive midfielder. As reported by Clyde 1, the club’s manager, Stephen Robinson, said:

"“Celtic have had conversations with Dylan, I have had conversations with him and his parents.“We want Dylan to stay. We think it is the best place for him to develop which has been proved.“I will throw young players in and we have done.“The boy has a decision to make and we don’t want to put any more pressure on a young kid.“But we genuinely believe this is the best place for him to develop.”"

Thus, it is confirmed that Celtic have had conversations with Reid already although he is yet to make a decision regarding his future. And considering the amount of interest, he is not going to have a lack of options to pick from.

Reid is just 17 years of age but has already made a few appearances for St Mirren at the Premiership level.

Despite that though, one would not expect him to come in and become a part of the first-team at Celtic immediately, if the Hoops did indeed manage to sign the highly rated teenager this summer. Instead, he would probably go into the B team and would then have to make his way up to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
