Edouard Michut is a name that Celtic fans have gotten familiar with over the past day. Multiple sources, and some very reliable, have linked the Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder with a move to Parkhead recently, as it looks like the French youth international is ready to depart the club in search of playing time.

A club like Celtic could be the perfect place for him to develop, and would offer Michut Champions League football as well. Thus, it is not hard to understand the links and rumours have suggested that the Hoops are preparing an offer in the range of £2 million for the Frenchman and PSG are ready to let him go.

Now though, it looks like the rumours linking Celtic with a move for Michut are not accurate at all, which is a bit surprising to say the least.

As reported by the Daily Record, Ange Postecoglou himself appeared to rule out a move for the PSG youngster, as he said:

"“Yeah, good player, but no. I have an interest in every good footballer in the world, but there is a limited market which I can tap into.”"

Celtic do not appear to be chasing the PSG attacking midfielder

On paper, a move for someone like Michut would have made a lot of sense for Celtic. He has been very highly rated while coming through the ranks at PSG and many believe that he deserves more first-team minutes than he has gotten till now. Also, he is just 19 years of age and has all the time in the world to improve further.

On the other hand, Celtic saw Tom Rogic leave the club at the end of last season. He was one of the most key players in Postecoglou’s side in the previous campaign and could be a huge miss. Someone like Matt O’Riley seems to be a very good replacement and it would be a mistake to forget about David Turnbull, but the Hoops should still look to fill in the empty squad spot that the Australian left behind.

While a move for Michut does not seem to be on the cards, Celtic are still expected to make a few more signings this summer and it will be very interesting to see who they turn out to be.
