Celtic did not need to make a lot of changes to a squad that had won the Premiership and Scottish League Cup double in the previous campaign. The Hoops have been quite busy nonetheless, in terms of both incomings and outgoings. Of course, the headlines have been grabbed by the permanent signings of Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota, Daizen Maeda, Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist.

On the other hand, while there has been no lack of outgoings as well, they have been mostly quiet and not high profile ones.

It is expected that Ange Postecoglou’s side will make a few more additions to their squad this summer, as there are some positions which are still in need of reinforcements, like defensive midfield. On the other hand though, it would not surprise anyone if there are a few more exits as well.

One player who could very well be on his way out is Scott Robertson, who was very highly rated while coming through the youth ranks but has never managed to carve out a place for himself in the senior side and does not seem to be in Postecoglou’s plans at the moment. A report from The Athletic reads:

"Robertson was the most highly rated academy product of his age group, and has impressed over the past two seasons during loan spells at Crewe, Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers. However, he has not been involved in pre-season and has only a year left on his contract, and as with Shaw, it is not believed Postecoglou intends to include him in his plans. A departure this summer, whether on another loan until his contract expires or permanently, is likely."

Celtic player could be on his way out this summer

It is unlikely that Robertson will be a key part of this Celtic team next season and as a result, a move away might be the best step for the youngster.

Robertson is still just 20 years of age and as a result, he has plenty of time to develop into a top player. His current deal with Celtic runs out next summer though and as a result, the Hoops could potentially look to find him a new club.

Robertson might not be a regular for Celtic but he has been impressive while away on loan, and as a result, one would not expect there to be a lack of interest in his signature.
