Celtic made an exciting start to the summer transfer window, retaining the services of Jota, Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers, which must have topped the list of priorities for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The club also completed the signings of Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist.

The transfer window so far has been brilliant for the Hoops but not completely perfect, with them missing out on the signing of Vinicius Souza. The club were believed to be keen on making a move for the Brazilian midfielder, as they search for a replacement for Nir Bitton. But he has joined Espanyol on loan instead.

With Ismaila Soro also leaving the club on loan, it has now become a necessity for Celtic to strengthen in their defensive midfield department. As a result, the Hoops appear to have turned their attention towards Fausto Vera.

There is plenty of interest in the Argentine though, with Corinthians and Genk already believed to have failed in their attempts to sign him. As a result, it won’t be easy for Celtic to get a deal for Vera over the line.

Celtic will have to pay significant transfer fee in order to sign Vera

As reported by Lance (via Daily Record), the bids on the table are in the region of €4 million (£3.4 million), and have been turned down. Argentinos Juniors appear to be holding out for a transfer fee around €6.5 million (£5.5 million) for their key man.

Quite versatile across the midfield region, Vera is pretty good in both sides of his game. He can carry the ball up the pitch, make a pass from deep, is good at breaking up play and has an occasional goal in him as well.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Celtic might be looking to sign the midfielder this summer. Now, it remains to be seen if they can get a deal done or not.
