Celtic have enjoyed quite a successful transfer window till now and Ange Postecoglou should be very happy with the squad that he has to pick his starting XI from moving forward. There have been no major departures, while the loan deals of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda have been made permanent, with Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist being signed as well.

Yet, there are a very positions that the club could need to strengthen in this summer, and one of them is believed to be striker. Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis have struggled to remain fit while Albian Ajeti’s time at Celtic has not been a success and he could very well be on his way out.

Jordan Larsson is someone who has mentioned as a potential target for Celtic. We do not need to talk about what his father achieved at Parkhead, but he himself is a pretty good player. The 25-year-old is a Swedish international and was being linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund last summer.

This time around, he is available as a free agent after his deal with Spartak Moscow was terminated recently. But as tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, it is looking unlikely that Celtic will offer a contract to Larsson:

Celtic looking unlikely to make offer to striker

Celtic had been linked with a move for Larsson last summer as well but it did not materialise back then. He was coming off of a tremendous campaign with Spartak Moscow and was rated at a transfer fee around £15 million.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Larsson had scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 Russian Premier Liga games in the 2020/21 campaign.

Larsson’s 2021/22 campaign was very disappointing though and his stock is not nearly as high now. But he is still a very good player on his day.

It is a surprise that Celtic do not appear to be looking to make an offer to Larsson despite the fact that he is available on a free transfer and the blockbuster move that it would be.
