Celtic have made quite the start to the summer transfer window. Even though it was not expected to be busy this time around, the club have already made the loan deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda permanent. They have also signed Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus, making him the first Argentine in the Hoops’ history, and Benjamin Siegrist on a free transfer.

On the other hand, quite a few players have departed the club as well, as it looks like while Celtic are not looking to make wholesale changes to their squad, they are certainly fine tuning it at the moment.

It is not just the first-team that might need additions though, but the B team as well, with an eye on the future. And one player that Celtic are believed to have launched a transfer bid for is St Mirren’s Dylan Reid, who is also believed to be wanted by the Rangers, and has been linked with Benfica too.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou said about the situation involving Reid:

"“I think (Dylan Reid) that’s more for our B team and academy. Again, I’d love to be the man for everything, but I have my limitations in terms of what I’m focused on at the moment. Other people are in charge of that area.”"

Reid is just 17 years of age. He currently plays for St Mirren and he has represented them in a few Premiership games already. He also represents Scotland at the youth levels. He is a defensive midfielder, a position where the Hoops do need to strengthen in this summer.

While Reid could prove to be a very good long-term addition for Celtic, he is not someone you would except to come in and make an immediate impact on the first-team picture.

A new defensive midfielder is a necessity for Celtic this summer though and it remains to be seen who they end up signing there. They were linked with Vinicius Souza heavily but that move failed to transpire, as the Brazilian has moved to Espanyol on loan.
