Celtic have been linked with Jordan Larsson in the past as well. He had enjoyed a spectacular 2020/21 campaign with Spartak Moscow and back then he was rated at a transfer fee around £15 million. Thus, it is easy to understand why a move to Parkhead did not end up materialising last summer. The picture is very different now though.

His contract with Spartak Moscow was terminated recently and as a result, he is available as a free agent now. On the other hand, Celtic could be on the lookout for another striker this summer.

They have spectacular options in the form of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis but both have had their injury problems. On the other hand, Albian Ajeti could be on his way out of the club after failing to make his mark since arriving in the summer of 2020. Thus, someone like Larsson could prove to be a fantastic signing.

As reported by RB Sport, the most likely option for Larsson is to continue his career at Celtic.

Larsson could prove to be a fantastic signing for Celtic

The biggest factor behind making a move for Larsson is the fact that he is available as a free agent. That would come in very handy considering the fact that the Hoops have already shelled out significant amounts on transfer fees this summer.

While he would not be expected to come in and become an immediate starter at Parkhead, he has shown enough through the course of his career to suggest that he has enough ability to make a mark at Parkhead.

One must remember that at one point of time, Larsson was linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland.

While Larsson has been inconsistent and he is coming off of a poor 2021/22 season, he is a very good footballer when on top of his game and a Swedish international.

Also, one cannot overlook the blockbuster element of seeing Henrik Larsson’s son pull on a Celtic jersey.
