Celtic are in the middle of an exciting summer transfer window that has already seen them sign the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda on permanent deals following extremely successful loan spells last season. On the other hand, Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist have been signed as well.

There are still some more additions that the club are expected to make this summer though, especially in defensive midfield. Nir Bitton departed Parkhead at the end of last season while Scott Brown had brought the curtain down on his Celtic career last summer.

Thus, Celtic do need to strengthen there, but nobody could have expected the Hoops to make a transfer bid for a 17-year-old defensive midfielder, and yet, that is exactly what has happened.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic have made a transfer bid of around £125,000 for St Mirren youngster, Dylan Reid. The Buddies are considering the offer with talks currently ongoing between the clubs.

Reid is a player who has been the subject of a lot of discussion in recent times when it comes to transfer rumours. He has been linked with a move to the Rangers, while there is believed to be interest from teams in England and European sides like Benfica.

With Celtic having launched a transfer bid for Reid, it remains to be seen how the other clubs who were linked with a move for the young defensive midfielder react to the situation.

While he is still just 17 years of age, Reid has already broken through into the senior team at St Mirren and made quite a few appearances in the Premiership. Thus, it is not hard to see why so many clubs are interested in the youngster.

Now, it remains to be seen who ends up winning the race for his signature. Celtic have made their move.
