Ange Postecoglou reveals Celtic’s summer transfer plans
Celtic have made an excellent start to their summer transfer window, with Ange Postecoglou’s side having already secured the permanent signings of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda. As a result, the club has kept hold of the core that helped them regain the Scottish Premiership title from the Rangers last season.
In addition to that, the signings of Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist have strengthened the squad further. But even though the club have been able to bring in some of their top targets, it looks like Postecoglou is looking for more.
Celtic will have to deal with a hectic run of fixtures, which is almost certain to test the depth of the squad. There is also the Champions League group stage to navigate through, where the Hoops are set to come up against some top class opposition.
The Glasgow giants kicked off their pre-season in some style in Austria, with a 7-0 win over Wiener Viktoria, and it is not hard to feel the optimism around the club at the moment. The squad is in a very good place already but fans should expect a few more signings still.
Celtic manager is looking for a few more signings this summer
As reported by Football Scotland, speaking after the pre-season win over Weiner Viktoria, Postecoglou admitted:
"“I still think there are one two areas where we need some more robustness in terms of the squad, just some quality in depth.“I wouldn’t expect too many but there are still one or two areas I’m looking to strengthen knowing what’s ahead for us.”"
Midfield remains an area where Celtic might need to bring in reinforcements this summer. The club is believed to have shown interest in signing Vinicius Souza from Lommel SK on a loan. But with several other sides around Europe interested as well and the transfer saga dragging on, they should keep their eyes on other targets as well.
On the other hand, they could do with another option in central defence and up front, if the likes of Christopher Jullien and Albian Ajeti do end up departing Parkhead this summer.
