Henrik Larsson has been talking about his time at Celtic and those electrifying derbies in Glasgow against Rangers. Back in his time of course, they were Old Firm derbies. And it is safe to say that the Swede, who played for some of the biggest clubs on the planet, holds those games in high esteem.

The Celtic legend has played in some of the top club clashes around the world including in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, his time at Manchester United, he has experienced El Clásico in Spain during his spell at FC Barcelona.

But it appears that Larsson doesn’t quite rate the derbies there nearly as highly and places the Old Firm games above all the others.

Larsson recently appeared on The Official Manchester United Podcast and as reported by Football Scotland, while talking about the Old Firm Derby, he said:

"“There’s nothing that compared to an Old Firm.“El Clásico for me isn’t even a derby as it’s not in the same city. I played Feyenoord-Ajax and Feyenoord-PSV… not even close. Man Utd-Liverpool… not even close.”"

Larsson enjoyed some incredible moments in the Old Firm Derby while playing for Celtic

Larsson clearly loved those matches against Rangers. His 15 goals against them will bring back many memories for both the player and the Celtic fans. In particular, his “That’s sensational” chip in the 6-2 win over the Ibrox club back in 2000.

During his prime, Larsson was one of the best players in the world, and many questioned why he did not decide to leave Celtic earlier than he did. But it is pretty clear that he enjoyed his time at Parkhead, and he has quite the legacy to show for it as well.

And now there is the possibility of his son Jordan Larsson joining Celtic as a player after the termination of his contract at Spartak Moscow. It’s not certain a deal will be struck, but those warm memories of his father’s time at the club will do no harm to his chances of turning up for the Hoops one day.
