Premier League club set to replace Rangers and face Celtic in Australia
Celtic are set to travel to Australia later this year in order to take part in the Sydney Super Cup. It was expected to be a showpiece event, with a friendly Glasgow Derby against the Rangers. But the Ibrox side decided to pull out from the competition on the back of protests from a section of their support, despite the fact that it is believed to be a very financially lucrative affair.
Celtic have not pulled out though and as things stand they are still set to go on their Australian trip in November. It has been hyped up as the ‘Ange Postecoglou Homecoming‘ tour by many, which is one of the reasons that many of the Rangers protested. Rumours also suggested that the financial package that they were receiving was significantly lower than the Hoops.
The organisers will need to find a suitable replacement for the Rangers though, in order to take on Celtic in the glamour friendly and it looks like they have some big plans.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, English Premier League opponents are being lined up to face Postecoglou’s Celtic in Australia.
Premier League club look set to replace Rangers and face Celtic in friendly in Australia
It is safe to say that while nothing can end up replacing the excitement of the Glasgow Derby, a Premier League club could act as some top replacements indeed.
There is already expected to be a lot of excitement around Postecoglou’s Premiership champions going to Australia anyway, as the Hoops have managed to capture the imagination of the fans over the past year or so.
Now, it remains to be seen who end up being the Premier League club to replace the Rangers in Australia, if that indeed turns out to be the case. An update is expected to be provided ‘soon’.
