Most of the news that has surrounded Celtic recently has involved arrivals and understandably so. Celtic have signed five players on permanent deals this summer already – Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur, Jota from Benfica, Daizen Maeda from Yokohama F. Marinos, Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus and Benjamin Siegrist on a free transfer. And the Hoops could still be on the lookout for another centre-back, defensive midfielder and striker.

Thus, it is safe to say that these are exciting times for Celtic fans, as they head towards a season that will see them defend the Scottish crown as well as make their return to the Champions League group stage after many years.

There have been quite a few players who have left Parkhead as well though, but there has not been as much hype surrounding them, as none of them have been high profile ones. And now, the name of Barry Coffey has been added to that list.

As reported by The 42, Coffey stay at Cork City until the end of the season after signing with the club on a free transfer from Celtic.

Coffey ended up spending quite a few years at Celtic but never managed to make a single appearance for the senior side of the club, which is a bit of a surprise considering the fact that the midfielder did have some very promising spells away on loan.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 27 appearances for Cork City, while on loan at the club from Celtic.

Those are very promising stats, especially from someone who is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of room for further growth and improvement.

It remains to be seen how Coffey does following his Parkhead exit on a permanent basis. He has signed a short-term deal with Cork City until the end of their season, and could have to assess his options once again after that.
