Karamoko Dembele’s new club after leaving Celtic
Karamoko Dembele never managed to reach the heights that he was expected to during his time at Celtic. He was one of the most highly-rated talents in the world during his youth career and many believed was a no brainer to go on to become a first-team regular for the Hoops. That did not end up happening.
He made some senior appearances and even scored for Celtic, but ultimately, he was never much of a feature for the club’s senior team. In the previous pre-season, it had looked like he might have an opportunity to make his case for a starting spot, with everybody starting from square one under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
But he ended up suffering a long-term injury at the worst time possible, in pre-season itself, and his chance was gone. His deal with Celtic ran out this summer and while there was a lot of confusion surrounding his future, it looks like we are going to get an answer soon.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Brest are close to snapping up Celtic winger Dembele on a free transfer. French reports claim he will team up with the club on Monday for pre-season training.
French club are close to signing Dembele after his Celtic exit
There is no question about the natural talent and ability of Dembele. But he has never quite managed to breakthrough and showcase it at the senior level.
Now, it looks like it won’t be happening at Celtic, even if it potentially ends up happening elsewhere.
A move to Brest might not be the worst idea for Dembele. Ligue 1 has become known for giving chances to youngsters in recent years and they are a solid midtable team in the top division.
We can only wish Dembele the best of luck moving forward, wherever he ends up and thank him for years of service to Celtic.
