Initially, it had been thought that the deal for Jota would be a straightforward one for Celtic and the move to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur was the one that was going to be more complicated and take time. That is not how things have turned out though as the United States defender joined the Hoops on a permanent basis a while back while the saga involving the Portuguese winger has dragged on.

In fact, a lot of Celtic fans have been worried in recent days that the club might be dealing with a last second stumbling block in the deal to sign Jota from Benfica on a permanent basis.

Jota himself has been on a bit of a world tour during the off-season and pictured in several places across the globe. But now, it looks like a permanent move to Celtic is finally on the verge of completion.

As reported by Football Scotland, Jota is finally in Glasgow as he gets ready to put pen to paper on a contract that will make him Ange Postecoglou’s newest signing.

Jota reportedly back in Glasgow in a major boost for Celtic

Signing Jota on a permanent basis from Benfica is very important for Celtic. He was one of the key players for the Hoops last season and played a huge part in their Premiership and League Cup win.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jota scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in 40 appearances for Celtic last season across all competitions.

It looks like it is only a matter of time before the move for Jota gets over the line as well and that would be a huge boost for the Hoops to say the least. They confirmed the signing of Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus earlier as well, and it looks like they are backing Postecoglou ahead of the Champions League group stage campaign.
