Celtic are coming off of an incredibly successful 2021/22 campaign. Against all odds and expectations, the club managed to win a Premiership and League Cup double in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge. 2022/23 promises to be even more exciting though, with the Scottish crown to defend against the Rangers and the Hoops returning to the UEFA Champions League group stage after several years.

As a result, Celtic will be keen to impress in Europe’s elite competition and are expected to strengthen their squad this summer.

That has already started as well. Cameron Carter-Vickers has been signed on a huge deal from Tottenham Hotspur. On the other hand, a deal for Jota is only believed to be a matter of time, and the Hoops seem to be on the verge of signing Alexandro Bernabei on a permanent basis as well.

It is believed that the club have agreed a £3.75 million deal with Lanus for Bernabei and that he underwent his medical in Glasgow this weekend. He could even be unveiled as a Celtic player on Monday. A report from The Scottish Sun reads:

"Alexandro Bernabei is expected to bolster Celts’ full-back options when he signs a five-year deal.SunSport understands the Argentinian underwent his medical in Glasgow at the weekend and could even be unveiled on Monday."

Celtic could finally make official announcement on Monday

Left-back has been viewed as an area of weakness for Celtic ever since Kieran Tierney left in a Scottish record move in the summer of 2019 to join Arsenal.

It must be said that Greg Taylor did impress last season but the club do need to provide him with some competition. As a result, someone like Bernabei could be an excellent signing as he has all the attributes to succeed in Postecoglou’s system.

The Argentine is just 21 years of age and already has plenty of senior experience under his belt. He is rapid, has great dribbling ability, can get past his man, has a lot of quality in the final third of the pitch and is aggressive without the ball. Thus, it is not hard to see why Postecoglou might want to bring a player like him to Parkhead.

At the moment, Bernabei’s signing seems more like a matter of when than if, and Celtic fans are waiting for an official announcement to be made.
