Celtic no longer need a major squad overhaul this summer like they did the last time around, when they were coming off of a disastrous 2020/21 campaign, having finished without a trophy and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league. The picture is much rosier now, as the club, in Ange Postecoglou’s very first season in charge, managed to win a Premiership and League Cup double.

At the same time though, things never remain still at clubs the size of Celtic and as a result, there will be a fair number of players, mostly youngsters, leaving Parkhead this summer, regardless of their current situation.

As reported by The Sun, Celtic goalkeeper, Ross Doohan, is wanted on loan by Doncaster, with St Johnstone also keen. He spent the previous campaign out on loan with Tranmere Rovers, for whom he impressed.

That is where the situation gets interesting though, as the future of Doohan at Celtic is uncertain at this point of time.

Celtic goalkeeper wanted by Premiership rivals amidst mystery over his future

Initially, it had been believed that the contract of Doohan would run out this summer. But no official announcement has been made regarding his departure.

At the same time though, no announcement has been made about the club extending his contract either.

The suggestion that clubs want him on loan would suggest that he is still a Celtic player but to be honest, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the situation of Doohan right now.

One thing that is for certain is the fact that he would not be expected to get much playing time if he did remain at Celtic. Joe Hart did a wonderful job between the posts last season and as a leader too. On the other hand, the club have signed Benjamin Siegrist as a free agent this summer. They also have Scott Bain as back up and Tobi Oluwayemi coming through the ranks.
