Celtic-linked player rules out transfer move this summer

Celtic have been linked with a wide variety of players in recent times all over the pitch. One position that they were always expected to look to strengthen in though is left-back, which has been viewed as a weakness for the Hoops for a while. Greg Taylor showed a lot of improvement last season and proved himself to be a league-winning left-back, but Ange Postecoglou seems to be keen on providing him with some competition.

Celtic appear to be on the verge of doing that as well as a move for Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus only seems like a matter of time now with it being suggested that a £3.75 million transfer fee has already been agreed.

The Argentine left-back can prove to be an excellent addition to this Celtic side. But before him, rumours had suggested that the club were close to another player, in the form of Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze.

That move never materialised though and with a move for Bernabei close, it looks like it is very much off the cards for Celtic. On the other hand, Jeahze looks set to stay on at Hammarby as well. As reported by the Daily Record, the Iraq international said:

"“I think I will stay at Hammarby. I have a contract for another year. I’m fully set on that now, and Jeppe (Hammarby’s sporting director) has said no to something too. Jeppe said no. You simply have to accept it. It may not have been enough for them.”"

Jeahze has been one of the best left-backs playing in Sweden for quite a while and a player like him could have proven to be a good fit in Postecoglou’s style of football. The move never ended up going anywhere though and it is unclear whether Celtic even tried to sign him.

Bernabei could prove to be an excellent addition to this team in his own right though. He has tremendous speed, ability on the ball and aggressiveness off it.

All of those are attributes that could help the Argentine succeed in Postecoglou’s team. Of course, there is risk involved as well, as he has never played in Europe before and it remains to be seen how he will adjust to that.
