Celtic still have a few holes in their squad despite their brilliant first season under the management of Ange Postecoglou, which saw them lift the Premiership and League Cup double against all odds. But one of those holes is not at striker, as the club have some brilliant options up front in the form of Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis and potentially even Daizen Maeda, depending upon the situation.

Kyogo was arguably the club’s best player when he was on the pitch last season. On the other hand, Giakoumakis grew into his role as the campaign progressed and finished it stronger than anybody could have expected. Maeda was not the best when going through the middle on his own, but one would expect him to improve moving forward.

One player who could be on his way out of the club soon though is Albian Ajeti, who does not seem to have much of a future in Postecoglou’s side and in that situation, the club might need to bring in a replacement.

As reported by All Nigeria Soccer, Celtic and Rangers are mulling over a move for Nigerian international and Randers star, Stephen Odey, this summer.

Celtic and Rangers in transfer battle over Nigerian striker

Odey was incredibly impressive while playing for Danish side, Randers, last season and appears to have caught the eye of both Glasgow giants. On top of that, he has represented the Nigerian national team in the past as well.

It is believed though that Randers will look for a transfer fee around €4 million to let their star player leave this summer. That could be steep for Celtic, as he would not be expected to be a starter for the Hoops, unless he does something incredible upon arriving.

Celtic are believed to have made an approach to Randers over the player but it looks like the Rangers’ interest is more concrete and they have held preliminary talks.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Odey scored 13 goals and provided 2 assists in 32 appearances for Randers last season.
