Sky Sports deliver £4 million Celtic transfer update

Celtic might have won the Premiership and League Cup double last season, but they still need to strengthen their squad further. They have the Scottish crown to defend against the Rangers as well as guaranteed Champions League group stage football to look forward to, after a gap of several years and the Hoops must be keen to make a positive impression. Also, there is a feeling that we have not seen the best of Angeball yet.

One position on the pitch that could do with some reinforcements is left-back. Greg Taylor impressed last season but has no real competition for the first-team spot. Boli Bolingoli has been linked with a move away for a while and on the other hand, Liam Scales, who has struggled to break into Ange Postecoglou’s plans since his arrival, could potentially be on his way out on loan as well.

As a result, Celtic could do with another left-back this summer and one name that they have been heavily linked with is Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus. But it looks like it could take a significant transfer fee of around £4 million to sign him from the Argentine club.

"Celtic are also continuing their pursuit of Lanus left-back Alexandro Bernabei.The clubs have so far failed to agree on a valuation of the players, with reports in Argentina suggesting that Lanus are looking for a deal worth around £4m for the 21-year-old."

Bernabei seems like a very good prospect. Despite being just 21 years of age, the Lanus left-back has plenty of experience under his belt. He also possesses great pace, dribbling, ability in the final third of the pitch and aggressiveness off the ball.

As a result, he could be a very good fit in Postecoglou’s system. But at the same time, one has to remember that £4 million is a big transfer fee to shell out for someone who might not even be the first-choice left-back at the club.

On top of that, they have already completed a big move to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis and are believed to be closing in on a deal for Jota as well.
