Left-back is a position that is believed to be a priority for Celtic this summer. It has been an area of weakness for them for years now, since Kieran Tierney ended up leaving the club to join Arsenal in a Scottish record transfer move. Since then, the club have played several others there, but nobody has been able to fill the void left behind by the brilliant Scottish international.

It must be pointed out though that Greg Taylor was quite impressive last season. While there are still limitations to his game, he has proven himself to be a Premiership-winning left-back.

Still, one would expect the Hoops to make an addition at left-back this summer and one player that they have been linked with recently is Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus.

The Argentine left-back appears to have caught the eye of Celtic and rumours have suggested that the Hoops have already made one failed transfer bid to sign him. Talks are still believed to be ongoing between the two clubs though and now, there seems to be a positive update on the situation.

Journalist delivers massive Bernabei to Celtic update

When asked about an update on Bernabei by Celtic supporter, Stacey Devlin, Mark Hendry tweeted out about it being ‘a matter of time’:

Now, to be very honest, before the recent rumours, not many Celtic fans would have even heard of Bernabei. He currently plays in the Argentine league and at Lanus, which is not one of the traditional big clubs.

But, that being said, Bernabei does look like a very exciting player, who could be a good fit in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. He is rapid, has brilliant dribbling ability, great quality in the final third and brings something very different to the table.

It will be interesting to see if Celtic are ultimately able to bring Bernabei to Parkhead but the signs are looking positive right now, as both clubs appear to be looking to reach a deal for the Argentine left-back, who has not actually played for Lanus in recent games and is believed to have been in Europe.
