Ange Postecoglou’s first season at Celtic has seen him showered with heaps of plaudits and praise from fans, pundits and even the club’s former players. Initially seen as a manager attempting to get the Hoops through a transitional season, the former Australian national team boss surpassed all expectations, winning the Scottish League Cup and Premiership double, and becoming a cult figure at Parkhead already.
Winning the league also means that they will be playing Champions League group stage football next season, after an absence of several years. It will bring a welcome cash boost to the Glasgow giants and more memorable European nights under the lights at Paradise.
Tom Boyd, who represented the Hoops from 1992 to 2003, and captained the side for five years, appears to have been impressed immensely by what he has seen from Postecoglou till now.
The former Celtic captain has backed the manager to make more significant additions to the squad, after his incredible success with transfers since joining the club last summer.
Former Celtic captain has made exciting Postecoglou claim
As reported by the Daily Record, Boyd said regarding the upcoming summer transfer window:
"“I trust him. That’s what managers are judged on. The players they bring into the club and can they make an impact?“Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, the players we brought in didn’t have that impact and that is one of the reasons why we didn’t win the league.“Now you look at what Ange has done and every player that he has brought in has made a massive impact to help us win the league and a cup.“What he is doing, he is doing right and that is why we trust what he is doing.“The adjustment of style, the formation which was alien to many of us at the start was working by the end of the season by winning the league and getting us into the Champions League proper.“That’s the faith we have in the manager and because he has done it. And it has given us that confidence to go into next season hoping he can bring in more better players.”"
The transfers made under the management of Postecoglou have improved Celtic’s squad to a significant extent without a shadow of a doubt.
This summer, the club has already signed Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda on permanent transfers, following their successful loan spells at Parkhead. And rumours suggest that the Hoops are now ready to do the same with Jota, who has emerged as a fan favourite after his terrific loan spell last season as well, as he played a key part in the club’s double.
When it comes to the new names, the Hoops have been linked with several exciting names. Thus, fans must buckle up for what promises to be a big summer transfer window.
