Celtic are in a much better position this summer than they were in the last one, when they had been left scrambling for signings to build up a squad that could get them through a transitional season after the disaster that was the 2020/21 campaign. It is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou’s side overdelivered, beating all expectations and odds, and winning the Premiership and League Cup double.
This time around though, they will have a target on their back as the defending league champions. On top of that, they have Champions League group stage football to play after many years as well.
Thus, this summer could prove to be vital for the club and one position that they do need reinforcements in is left-back, as Greg Taylor does not have any real competition right now.
One player that they have been linked with recently is Argentine left-back, Alexandro Bernabei, of Lanus. And if Celtic are able to sign the youngster this summer, it could prove to be an absolute masterstroke on the part of the Hoops.

Bernabei is a name that not many Celtic fans would have heard of before the rumours emerged linking the player with the club. But the eye test on the player is certainly fascinating to say the least.
Bernabei is rapid going forward, has incredible ability with the ball at his feet that resembles a winger more than a full-back and has a lot of quality in the final third as well. While his numbers might not be as dominant as that of Taylor in some aspects, one has to remember that he does not play in a team as dominant as Celtic either.
The big question mark is whether he can adjust to the game in Scotland and perform defensively. His defensive stats do raise a few eyebrows to say the least. Those questions can only be answered though if the Hoops do end up signing him. One thing is for sure, with his potential, he could certainly be worth the risk and the kind of player who can finally be somewhat of a replacement for Kieran Tierney, if it works out.
