It will be very interesting to see what kind of moves Celtic end up making this summer. The club do need to strengthen, with Champions League group stage football to play next season after an absence of several years. At the same time though, the club cannot afford to change too much and risk disrupting the balance that they have been able to build up in the squad since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.

They have made a bright start to the summer by signing Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur, after his incredible loan spell, in a transfer deal that could rise up to £10 million with add-ons. On the other hand, rumours suggest that a permanent move for Jota is only a matter of time as well.

There are a few more positions that the club could need to improve this summer, with one of them being the wings. James Forrest has struggled for both form and fitness for years, even though he was handed a new long-term deal recently. On the other hand, Mikey Johnston has failed to rediscover his best, while Karamoko Dembele looks set to be on his way out of Parkhead.

As reported by Wales Online, Celtic’s talks with Rabbi Matondo have already begun. The Rangers have also been linked with the Welshman. But now, it looks like both Glasgow giants could be facing some stiff competition.

Celtic face stiff competition for Wales international’s signature

As reported by BILD, Brentford FC, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are interested in Matondo, as are RC Lens, Stade Brest and ESTAC Troyes. It is believed Schalke will look for a transfer fee around €4 million for the winger.

Matondo enjoyed a great campaign on loan at Cercle Brugge last time around and it has certainly caught the eyes of clubs around Europe.

One of them seems to be Celtic and someone like Matondo could be an excellent addition. But it is clear that the race for his signature will be extremely tough.
