Celtic do not need a complete rebuild of their squad like they did last summer, when Ange Postecoglou arrived as manager and had to assemble his squad almost from scratch. That team would go on to win the Premiership and League Cup double. But with Champions League group stage football guaranteed for next season, the Hoops will do well to bring in further reinforcements and get even better.

They have gotten off to a great start to the summer transfer window to say the least, as they completed the permanent transfer of Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur, after the United States defender was magnificent while on loan last season.

Now, it looks like a move for Jota is not far away either. All the noise in the media has suggested that it will be completed soon, with both Celtic and Benfica keen, although the saga has dragged on.

Now, Mark Hendry has given an update on the situation, when asked about the Jota move, describing it to be very close and a formality at this point. He tweeted out:

Celtic appear to be very close to completing sensational transfer this summer

It goes without saying that if or when Celtic are able to complete the move for Jota, it would be viewed as a major coup on the part of the club.

The Portuguese winger was absolutely brilliant for the Hoops last season, and other than a short spell in the second half of the campaign, he was one of the club’s best players and a key reason behind their Premiership and League Cup triumph.

Thus, it is not hard to see why so many fans have been desperate to see him being signed on a permanent basis.

The good news is that it does not look like they will have to wait much longer, although as new images emerge on social media everybody from Jota’s trips around the world on holiday, one has to wonder exactly how long it will take. He does not seem to be a player worried about where his future lies though.
