Celtic are believed to be in search of a new left-back this summer. It has been considered as a position of worry for the club for quite some time, ever since Kieran Tierney left in the summer of 2019 and joined Premier League giants, Arsenal. Greg Taylor has shown signs of improvement in recent times but Ange Postecoglou is believed to be keen to provide the Scottish international with some competition next season.

Boli Bolingoli is expected to leave this summer, while Liam Scales is being heavily linked with an exit as well. As a result, do not be surprised to see Celtic sign a left-back over the coming weeks.

They had been linked with the likes of Mohanad Jeahze of Hammarby, Erick Otieno of AIK and Francisco Ortega of Velez Sarsfield. But now, it looks like Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus has moved ahead of them in the list of the club’s transfer targets.

And as reported by the Daily Record, Argentine journalists believe that a transfer fee between £2.5 million and £3.75 million should be enough to sign Bernabei. It appears that Lanus expect the 21-year-old to depart for Europe sooner or later and are preparing themselves for another offer from Celtic.

Celtic handed massive boost in their chase for the Argentine star

Signing someone like Bernabei would surely come with its fair share of risk, as the Argentine has not played in Europe before. But if the eye test is anything to go by, he could be an exciting addition to a club like Celtic.

The Argentine is absolutely rapid and appears to have a lot of quality in the final third. It will be interesting to see what he can do on the other end of the pitch as well though, but it must be pointed out that Postecoglou has shown a great eye for picking out players who fit his system till now.

Thus, it remains to be seen if Celtic can complete a move for Bernabei. There have been suggestions that they have already failed with their first offer for the player but are expected to go back in a second time.
