At a club the size of Celtic, players always come and go, even when a rebuild is not needed. Mostly, the ones leaving are those, who are struggling to break into the first-team picture at Parkhead. This summer has been no different in that respect, as the Hoops have released quite a few, who came through the youth ranks at Parkhead but were unable to make their mark on the senior team.

One such player is Kerr McInroy, whose contract with the club had run out and with little to no hope of becoming a fixture in Ange Postecoglou’s side, parting ways with his boyhood club was the right decision for all parties involved.

It has not taken long for McInroy to find another Scottish Premiership club though, as he has joined Kilmarnock, who won promotion to the top flight by winning the Championship last season under the management of Derek McInnes.

Kilmarnock have announced the signing of McInroy on a two-year deal, on the club’s official website and the former Celtic player said:

"“I’m delighted to be here and buzzing to get the deal done in time for pre-season starting so I’m looking forward to getting going with the boys.“I wanted to go to a club that wanted me and play at the highest level possible. I spoke to the manager and he really wanted to get me in so that had a big helping hand in my decision.“I look forward to bedding in as quickly as possible and seeing how I fit in to the squad.”"

McInroy was one of the most highly rated players at Celtic while coming through the youth ranks, having joined the club at the age of 12, and even captained the team at that level.

He also represented Scotland at multiple youth levels and it had looked like he was destined to become a feature in the Celtic first-team in the future.

He would end up suffering a serious injury some years back though, which kept him out of action for almost a year and the window of opportunity to break into the first-team probably passed him by as a result.

McInroy did have impressive loan spells at Airdrieonians and Ayr United though, and it will be very interesting to see how he does at Kilmarnock.
